Our History  

Southern Duo-Fast began in 1956 in Birmingham after Bill Rue, Sr. and B. R. Albright had purchased the Albright Duo-Fast company from Dudley Albright

After struggling to get sales growing, the partners enjoyed a successful first year in the fastener business and decided to move from Birmingham into a former grocery store on Bell Street in Montgomery , AL . Several years later, with their sales of fasteners increasing, a new sales and service branch warehouse and several salesmen were added in Amory , MS in 1962 to serve the growing upholstered furniture market. Back in Montgomery , the success of their business required more space and employees so Southern Duo-Fast moved from Bell Street to a new corporate office and warehouse on Southwest Street .

In the 70's North Alabama was in rapid development and two new sales and service warehouses were added in Birmingham and Decatur , AL in 1971. During this time also, Bill Rue, Jr. joined the company in 1970 and Ricky Albright in 1975. Three more sales and service warehouses were added in the 70's as the business continued to grow and prosper….Pensacola, FL in 1977 and Mobile , AL and Jackson , MS in 1978. In the 80's Southern Duo-Fast added salesmen, office and service personnel and opened two new more sales and service warehouses in Dothan and Haleyville , AL .

The 90's reflected a continuation of the growth for Southern Duo-Fast as well as bringing the challenges of our rapidly changing industry, Plans to meet these challenges included the construction of our new corporate headquarters in Montgomery as well as the addition of new sales and service warehouses in greater Atlanta, GA area in Marietta and Duluth and down south in Douglas, GA and in Destin, FL. Also in 1999, Bill Rue, Jr. became the sole shareholder of the company. Bill intends to continue the policies of the company that have made it so successful.

After the turn of the century, more sales and service warehouses were added in Abita Springs and Shreveport, LA; Poplar Bluff, MO; Benton, AR, McDonough, GA and Savannah, GA. In April of 2004 the Southern Duo-Fast name was changed to Fastening Solutions to better reflect the broad spectrum of products we sell and service today.
